Market Garden Partnership
Honi's Orchard has partnered with Palestinian food business Wadee Harvest to establish a market garden rooted in Palestinian farming traditions, bringing fresh, locally grown vegetables and herbs to you and your family.
Visit Wadee Harvest below:
Sheep and Poultry Silvopasture
We are working to restore much of our 45 acres to productive silvopasture, partnering with trees such as improved honey locust, black locust, mulberry, and yellowbud hickory for shade, fodder, and food in the pasture. Yellowbud Hickory, a tree native to this region, is emerging as a potential “olive of the North” due to the high oil content of its nuts.
See Fancy Twig Farm for an example!
Elderberry products Haskap U-Pick
We plan to scale up Canadian elderberry production for various products, and have started Serviceberry, Haskap, and other small native berries for a future U-Pick.
For more elderberry information, see our friends at Elderberry Grove
Peace on Earth Christmas Trees
Growing out of friendship and solidarity comes Peace on Earth Christmas Trees, probably the world’s first Palestinian-Jewish Christmas Tree project! Look out this fall for our first offering of a package of a Christmas Tree, Palestinian food products from Wadee Harvest, and a hand-made Palestinian olive wood ornament. Proceeds will go towards community projects in Wadi Fukin
Agrotourism and Ecotourism
Look out for volunteer days and seasonal events as we restore a large area of Honi's Orchard into a thriving landscape of wildlife habitat, food forests, walking trails, and camping!
