Who Was Honi?
(1)_edited_edited.png)
Honi the Circle Maker was a Jewish sage and fabled miracle worker who lived in ancient Judea in the 1st century BCE. He was known for drawing a circle on the earth and praying for rain, refusing to leave the circle until the rain came. Our inspiration for Honi's Orchard comes from the story of Honi and the carob tree:
One day Honi came upon an old man planting a carob tree. Honi asked him why, given he would not live long enough to enjoy its fruit.
"When I came into this world, I found carob trees planted for me. So I, too, am planting for my descendants"
About the logo
Our logo was designed by a team from the Palestinian design house 255. It depicts Honi asleep under a carob tree as sheep graze in a silvopasture.
